High Rigg Shepherd's Sunrise Reviews

We usually stay at the shepherds delight but decided to give th sunrise a go and loved it even more. Will b back next year
We stayed in the sunrise hut for Christmas, when we arrived we was welcomed by a beautiful setting,Christmas lights and tree. When we entered the hut we was greeted with shepherds pie and prosecco a lovely touch from the owners.the hut itself has everything you need, couldn't ask for more there is even bathrobes and slippers to use when you venture to the hot tub.the setting is beautiful over looking the lake and very quite, overall it's an amazing little find.....my only criticism would be is that maybe a few hooks in the bathroom to hang towels etc and a few more in the living space? A few areas are looking abit tired so maybe a little spruce up? But these issues would certainly not put me off from returning.
Amazing time away we took our dog and she loved it. The owners were lovely and welcoming making sure everything was all good for us. Easy to check in and check out. First time here and would 100 recommend this place to my family and friends. There is a pub very close as well as shops for daily food or essentials.

What a lovely place to stay for a few days, the owners have thought of everything. Great location for walking and local attractions. We appreciated the comfort of the shepherds hut as it was very cold when we stayed. It was always nice and warm and we even used the log burner one night. The hot tub was brilliant and it was undercover and well protected, we appreciated it's warmth in the cold evenings after long walks. The shepherd's pie on arrival was very tasty and filling along with a lovely bottle of prosecco. A lovely touch. The site is nice and quiet and we overlooked the pond. It's dog friendly but bare in mind dogs need to be on a lead to avoid escape into the fields with the sheep. We took a long line with us and secured this so our dog could be outdoors with us whilst we used the hot tub. She was happy in her bed with her winter coat on and we didn't have to worry. Overall just great and would look to return again.
The was a break away for myself and my wife. Absolutely fabulous stay, cosy and warm, the area was in a self enclosed space which meant our dog could be free outside, the hot tub was great especially after a days walking. We asked for a small food hamper which was all put away for us when we arrived.
A perfect 'escape from it all' break which didn't disappoint. The shepherds hut had everything we needed. The location was idyllic and the owners were easily contactable for any issues. The shepherds pies and prosecco on arrival were a lovely gesture too. The hot tub was a welcome relief after long walks in the unpredictable Lakes weather and having it available at all times was a bonus. A 5 star experience in a 5 star accommodation. I would absolutely recommend this to couples with dogs looking for an escape from it all.
The place was amazing! ! We stayed for 2 nights as our monthly couple get away. When i contacted the owner about having some things sent over she was more than happy to have them delivered and even decorated the hut before we got there. We was amazed that on our arrival we had a bottle of fizz and 2 shepherds pies waiting got us which tasted beautiful. The man came and spoke to us before we left he was a lovely gentleman the grounds were amazing and we took a walk round. I definitely would recommend and possibly for longer stays i will be returning again soon the only thing i would change was the cleaning spray empty and no spare bin bags and a proper sponge to wash dishes
Lesley
Great stay at Shepherds Sunrise. Everything we could need was available to use in the accommodation. Loved the Shepherds pie and bottle of fizz welcoming us on our first night. Lots of places to explore. Would definately come back and use the Shepherds hut aswell as recommend to others.
We had a fabulous stay at High Rigg Shepards Hut Sunrise. It was lovely and relaxing. Lovely walks near by, and the food at the String of Horses pub was amazing, dont forget your 20 off voucher when you go. The owners were lovely and very helpful too. We will be back !
What an amazing place. We so enjoyed our stay at Shepherd's Sunrise. The hut was spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Inside was beautifully decorated and outside the hot tub was great with comfortable seating areas and fabulous views. The delicious shepherd's pie and fizz left for us in the fridge were a lovely idea, and the owners were so friendly. Its a beautiful area to explore and so close for a visit to the Lakes. We would highly recommend and look forward to returning in the future.
Amazing, comfortable, clean, peaceful and everything we could have hoped for and more. The lights were on as we arrived so it was easy to see our way up to our door. The hot tub area was lit up and ready for us use. The hut was warm, inviting and ready for us with shepherd's pie and a bottle of fizz in the fridge. Easy and enough instructions for all the bits and pieces we used. The log fire was amazing, the bed was comfortable, the hot tub was fantastic and the owners were friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back and definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a relaxing time together xx Beautiful, peaceful, very clean and cosy with very friendly owners too xxx
Second time staying, we had a lovely time. Definitely be back next year.

It was a wonderful stay. The hut is beautifully decorated and everything was spotless. The fire was really easy to light only comment is make sure you bring a lighter with you to start the fire! So peaceful with some lovely views of the pond.
George
Amazing stay, we got caught in a storm and were looked after very well. Couldnt be happier. Thank you again for the amazing experience!
Nice comfortable stay, even in 6 temperatures I was turning heater down and the log fire boosted temperature up all night.
Incredible place to stay, the Shepard's pie was delicious. Friendly people and amazing views
Great facility to get away for a few days. Maintenance Only thing I would suggest sorting out is adding some clear or white silicone sealant to the back of the sink to prevent water damage to the back of the cupboard. Suggestion One additional toilet roll might be worth adding in the storage cupboard especially as Sunday was a no go day with the high winds and rain plus that unexpected time of month. Travel There were no shops nearby to get those essential supplies baring in mind we did not have transport. It took an hour and fifty minutes to walk to the BP station on A69, the first day, and one hour to Hayton village on our way home where there may have been some essentials on offer. It was closed on the Monday so we didnt find out. By car, a doddle so don't be put off. For information the route to Hayton takes you to the A69 and a bus stop to get to Brampton or Carlisle via the 635 bus. This is closer than to the BP garage where the Spar is. Hot tub a must. With dressing gowns and slippers provided, an evening outside is even more relaxing. Unless you have transport, this holiday is for the keen walker. We related to both. Owners were exceptionally helpful and provided some excellent help and advice. Thank you Claire. I rarely return to places as I love travelling but I would return here. It is slightly on the pricey side but with the place to yourself in the middle of nowhere it's worth it. Overall a very cosy place with great outlook. Well equipped for such a small space but used effectively there is plenty of space.

EXCELLENT PLACE BOOKED TO RETURN IN JANUARY 2025 CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK

This is truly a little gem, not only from the delights of the surroundings, the shepherds hut was just perfect every little detail well thought off, I worried before arrival about the size as some I have stayed in that look big on the pictures but are quite small, but this was one of the larger huts we've stayed in, the jacuzzi was very private, never seen any other guests. a lovely gesture of delicious shepherds pie and a bottle of fizz which was a lovely welcome gift, I would highly recommend, and we are already planning our next trip back. If I could make one small change and it would be small, may I suggest removing the customer signs and the be replaced with guest.
We had a great stay. Everybody was friendly and helpful on the site. The shepherds pies are a great touch. Can't wait to go back
Lovely and relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings, small But perfectly formed. Hot tub excellent and bed extremely comfortable. Will stay again
Millie
We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived, he was very kind and already had the hot tub ready for us! The lodge was very cosy and clean, the lighting of the lodge made it very warm and romantic, with fairy lights both inside and outside. There were shepherd's pies already waiting for us in the fridge with a bottle of sparkling we've never tasted shepherd's pie as good as them! There is also a very nice pub less than 10 mins walk away. Overall, a very pleasant stay, and highly recommend to anyone, especially couples who want a cosy getaway!
Rachel
Really lovely stay. Peaceful and relaxing locationplot. Close to local pubs which were very welcoming to us and our dog! The fence surrounding the hut had wide gaps and with sheep being nearby there was a slight concern the dog might get into mischief we brought a dog gate which fitted perfectly so problem solved! I think considering the pricepoint some charcoal for the bbq could have come for free rather than additional cost on arrival and some local recommendations may have come in handy from the hosts we bumped into some locals who happily obliged us though so no worries there!

Worst experience ever over run with bugs and flys from the trees Parking in ... Worst experience ever over run with bugs and flys from the trees Parking in between the trees was terrible when you get out of the vehicle on wet ground very slippery and dangerous We stayed just one night and moved out pictures looked wonderful real life experience rubbish
What a truly beautiful setting quiet and very peaceful. The shepherds hut was cosy comfortable and the hot tub was so soothing. The views are breathtaking watching cows grazing on the hill opposite and ducks paddling on the lake was a treat. Shepherds Sunrise we will return. Mrs and Mr Evans
Veronica
We had a lovely time hut was lovely the heater was lovely for when it got cold ,hot tub great to . Only thing was it needed a gate to stop the dog getting out up the lane
Absolutely fabulous, what a gorgeous place to stay and have a relaxing break. We absolutely loved it!!!
Stephen
Hi Rigg the sunrise is the best shepherds hut we have stayed in. The views and the grounds were well kept and all you can hear is the bird song and sheep. The bed was so comfortable with beautiful linen. The hot tub was amazing with all the fairy lights and under cover. The garden needs a gate to stop your dog getting out on the driveway. Sitting on the raised balcony eating our complimentary shepherds pie and sipping our pisecco what more do you need. Would recommend to everyone, well worth the money.we will be back. Our golden retriever slept like a log and so did we. The owners were friendly and there if you needed anything. Sunrise is a credit to them.
Fantastic stay at 'sunrise' Lovely pies and sparkling wine in Fridge
Jonathon
The property was great. Lovely, clean and comfortable place to relax. The only reason we wouldnt score 10 would be that the fence allowed the dog to potentially get through to the sheep, so he couldnt roam free without worrying. Also, the bathroom was on the small side for a 6ft 3 man.
Jennifer
Very enjoyable stay at Shepherds Sunrise. A wonderful peaceful location. The accommodation was very well equipped, cosy and comfortable. Hot tub excellent! Location ideal, enjoyed a pleasant 10min walk to the local pub for a tasty dinner.
Algirdas
The hot tub was great,a real highlights and stunning views out of the cabin. .Coking facilities ,bathroomshower and bedding where all top quality and made the stay a home from home. A great stay and we can't wait to return.
Samantha
We would highly recommend staying here at high rigg. First of all the place is just so beautiful it really makes you appreciate life and the world we live in. It's idyllic, the wildlife is amazing. Upon arrival we had prossecco in the fridge along with the most delicious shepards pie you would have ever tasted. The huts are just perfect kitted out with everything you need, the hot tub had lights and 2 jet settings, on a night time there was lights all around the hut it was so romantic. Hats off to the owners you have created a wonderful escape for those who need to slow down, take a breather and rejuvenate. We can not wait to return!
The hut and location were as described, very relaxing and private. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
We absolutely loved our stay at Shepherds Sunrise, beautiful place and really nice people. The hut was lovely, well equipped with everything you need and the wood fire was great in the evening after a soak in the hot tub. Beautiful view overlooking the pond, great views all round. The night sky was amazing for star gazing, and theres a lovely country pub half a mile away, food was really good. We will most definitely be back.
We had a lovely stay, the hut was very clean and cozy. Hot tub was great, lovely peaceful location with a nice view of the pond. Definitely would come again, highly recommend!!!
I would recommend staying here they are lovely people. coasy cabins and very warm
Had a lovely stay and will definitely be coming back. Thanks
We had an amazing time, what a beautiful place this is, by far the best shepards hut we've stayed in. We will definitely return. Thankyou.
We had a fantastic 3 night stay with our dog. Brilliant clean facilities with everything you need. The autumnal weather and rain didnt matter as the hot tub was undercover and the radiator keeps the hut really warm. There was a log fire too but we didnt need it. Bed was really comfy too. The perfect get away for that rural feel with a gorgeous view of the pond. If you do venture out theres a great pub down the road with amazing food too. The shepherds pie and bottle of fizz in the fridge was an added bonus. Be prepared that there is no internet or service there so you really get that off grid feel. We will definitely be back!
