Field House is a 400-year-old cottage tucked away in the Borrowdale valley near Keswick, Cumbria. This historic stone retreat offers stunning Lake District views and sits just half a mile from Derwentwater. Perfect for those who want to escape modern life without sacrificing comfort.

The Borrowdale valley is a walker's paradise. Windy country lanes lead to spectacular fells including Catbells, Skiddaw and Great Gable. Want water? Derwentwater is 0.5 miles away with boating and swimming options. After a day exploring, soak your tired muscles in your private hot tub with a favourite drink. The neighbours won't mind - they're mostly sheep.

The accommodation features an open-plan living space with a woodburning stove (starter log pack included). The kitchen has everything you need: range electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Upstairs you'll find two luxurious bedrooms - one with a romantic four-poster king-size bed and another with a double bed. The modern shower room has a walk-in shower.

We had a lovely stay at Field House. Everything we needed was there and had been thought about. The owners Hazel and Steve could always be contacted to give advice if needed. The hot tub was great and the view to the hills superb. Parking was good and the bus service into Keswick very frequent so a great alternative to driving. From Keswick there are other services to places around the lake district. We walked along the lakeside into Keswick one day and there is plenty of walking nearby if thats your thing. We would certainly go back there to Field House again.

Firstly ! Amazing hosts, we have never been greeted by a host before , and Hazel personally showed us around the cottage , pointed out all the quirky characteristics of their amazing home and gave us some great local insights into the surrounding area! Honestly just first class !! Steve & Hazel we bumped into a few times and on every occasion they were an absolute pleasure and we were made to feel so at ease just chewing the fat, learning their story and them listening to ours ! p.s thank you for the emergency sun cream Four poster bed was AMAZING! So comfy ! And massive ! Log burning stove was fantastic for cosy nights in, the kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked 6 out of 7 nights ! Hot tub, having experienced plenty the view is without doubt the best ever, the maiden of Maiden Moor was great to watch change colour when the sun goes down! This was without doubt the nicest hot tub we have had the pleasure of using! Hot, clean and spacious ! Location to Keswick is 1010, 8 min in the car, or a nice walk around Derwent Water. We climbed 20 Wainwrights whilst there, chilled, slept in, cooked, relaxed by the fire, got wrinkly in the hot tub! Goes without saying we will be back. Maybe even this year ! Thanks guys !! Youve deffo got this nailed xx

The house is amazing! the best we have stayed in and so well presented with fantastic attention to detail. Ideally located in the heart of Borrowdale with wonderful views of Maiden Moor from the Garden and Hot Tub, which provided a perfect end to days spent on the fells, most of which are easily accessed from the house. Thank you Hazel and Steve nothing was too much trouble, loved that you were on hand so that we could take advantage of your local knowledge. We can assure you that when we get the chance we will be back.

What an incredible place! Beautiful location and the cottage itself is superb. Hazel and Steve could not be more helpful. Comfy beds, fluffy towels, lots of hot water and a Hot Tub with amazing views and umbrella hats for when it is raining!. The welcome Pack was brilliant and the little extras were really appreciated. Good parking and buses into Keswick virtually at the end of the drive on nonwalking days. We finished our 214th wainwright on this holiday and I cannot think of a nicer place to be to celebrate. We will definitely be back.

We had a fabulous week at Field House. Authentic old cottage which has been beautifully restored to a very high standard with love. Every amenity is provided in the cottage including a lovely welcome pack which we were grateful for. We enjoyed the private garden which is not overlooked complete with a lovely hot tub to enjoy after a days walking with beautiful views over Maiden Moor. So quiet and peaceful with only the sheep and lambs bleating. Hazel and Steve are the perfect hosts and are around or contactable if needed and are always willing to share local walks and knowledge.
