Cobbleken Reviews

We had a great couple of comfy nights staying at Cobbleken, its in a great central location and had everything we needed after returning from walking for the day. Lovely to have the high street a few steps away for any needed supplies, restaurants, take aways etc....

We were very happy with the accommodation. It was really central and suited us perfectly. The kitchen is roomy and it was great having a double oven to cook the Christmas dinner! The dining room was a squeeze for 8 people but it couldn't be positioned anywhere else. The major drawback was the parking. The claim that there is parking for 2 cars just isn't acceptable. The garage as most people complain about is not suitable for a car even the smallest. The door must be widened or it should be advertised as with 1 parking space. Overall we would recommend it .
We have just had a fabulous couple of weeks in Cockermouth staying at Cobbleken. We could easily have stayed longer. Its an old building with all the history and character that brings. The property creaks and groans to let you know how old it is and this adds to its appeal. The only comments I would make are that the kitchen equipment pots, pans, utensils would benefit from updating. Everything else is excellent. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and the bathrooms are spacious with excellent water pressure. The bath on the top floor was a real treat. Cockermouth is a wonderful old town with a thriving collection of independent shops with welcoming staff working in them. Town centre properties with parking are a rare find and this is another reason that Cobbleken is such a good place to stay. We certainly hope to return.
Cobbleken offers a prime central Cockermouth location, ideal for exploring and accessing nearby pubs. The property is commendably spacious, clean, and tidy, with modern touches like Fire Sticks for streaming. The welcome wine and biscuits were a nice gesture. However, potential guests should note a few points. The kitchen felt underequipped for eight lacking items like a measuring jugcolander, and some may find the beds firm. The second staircase is very steep. While shops are close, initial teacoffee supplies were missed. A significant factor, though not the owner's fault, is loud music from the shop below during business hours, which could be an issue for noisesensitive guests, though it did encourage early outings. Despite these points, overall we enjoyed staying at the property. It offers a wellpositioned and roomy base, but be mindful of the kitchen limitations, bed firmness, steep stairs, and potential daytime noise.
We throughly enjoyed are stay, was a little issue with the garage parking for our second vehicle but thanks to clear instructions given by property we were able to find alternative parking nearby.
Great location, right in the centre of this beautiful little town. The house was perfect for us for the time we were there. Wouldve liked a bit of grass outside but with the river walk being so close it really didnt matter. The hosts were fantastic, so accommodating and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Great location, plenty of space for large family, private courtyard good for dogs. Dining room wouldn't fit 8 though although additional space in kitchen. Ensuite actually a walk down the hall, could do with smart tvs. Lacked couple of basics in kitchen, ie collander. Overall though this is good accommodation and would use again if back in the area.
This large property is excellent for a bigger group, it is centrally located near shops, pubs etc and has everything you need. The kitchen is well stocked and having a few items in the cupboards tea, coffee. salt, pepper etc is a good idea, the 2 bottles of wine a lovely touch. The property is very clean, the rooms spacious and we found the drying room very useful after such a wet weekend. The only downside is the garage which we couldn't use as modern cars are larger than the actual opening, needs a wider door like those nearby. Overall we would recommend this property and we would certainly book again if our group is in the area.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cobbleken. The house was great and had everything we needed. The only issue we had was that we couldn't actually park two cars as stated on the property information the garage was just too small to park in it. So that was a bit misleading, and we needed to then find and pay for alternate parking. But other than that it was as described and a great location.
