The gardens are stunning and our two dogs had a fantastic time exploring. We enjoyed dining out at the Strand Inn initially, but later found ordering online from Morrisons and Asda was cheaper than eating out every night. The house was lovely and peaceful - we're definitely planning to return to High Holme!

We loved the location, Nether Wasdale really is a good place nestled in such a beautiful valley. The house sits on a lovely elevated spot with stunning views towards Ill Gill. During the hot days, it did get quite warm inside since only a few windows open, so maybe a fan or two would help. The garden was perfect for the kids and dogs to relaxand we spent plenty of time unwinding in the hot tub. Just a heads up, The Screes pub hasn't reopened after Covid, so plan accordingly!

Honestly, the photos on the site looked amazingand the place exceeded our expectations! Not long after we arrived, the owner gave us a ring with some great tips about the area, like where to eat and fun things to do, which was really thoughtful. They even left us a lovely basket of goodies, which was a lovely touch. We'd done our research and knew it's always booked up, so we went ahead and rebooked for next year while we were still there-absolutely perfect! Couldn't recommend it enough.
