To reach Swallows Nest by car, take the M6 to Junction 41 and follow the A6 towards Carlisle, then take the B6413 to Armathwaite. The cottage is located just outside the village with good signage to guide you in.
For rail travelers, Armathwaite has its own station on the Settle-Carlisle line with limited services. Alternatively, Carlisle station offers more frequent connections, from where you can take a taxi for the 10-mile journey to the cottage.
