Is The Lune Right For You?

Discover why this cottage is ideal for different types of visitors

For Families
The Lune offers a shared children's play area with other properties on site. The large garden provides safe outdoor space for games and activities. Smart TVs in every bedroom keep children entertained during quieter moments. However, the lodge doesn't allow pets which some families might find limiting.
For Couples
The Lune works better for larger groups than intimate couples' breaks. The lodge sleeps 10 people across four bedrooms making it quite spacious for two. The private hot tub and stone patio create romantic evening settings. However, the family-focused design and shared children's facilities make it less suitable for romantic getaways.
Pet Friendly
The Lune operates a strict no-pets policy so it's not suitable for guests wanting to bring their dogs or cats. The lodge maintains this policy to ensure all guests have comfortable stays without pet-related issues. Pet owners should look for alternative accommodation that welcomes animals.

The Lune Reviews

John Doe
3rd August 2025
Check in is from 3pm. I messaged the owner at 3pm to say we would be checking in around 6pm due to traffic on the motorway. Thank goodness I did. The owner then calls me up immediately and asked who I had booked through. He was quite cryptic on the phone and mentioned a wrong date had been written for our booking but that the accommodation was available. So he would see us at 6pm. When we arrived at 6pm, we were asked to wait outside for at least another 20 minutes. When I asked the owner why this was the case, his initial response was quite dismissive.I then asked if we could at least use a toilet as it had been 3 hours since our last stop. He allowed us to go in quickly. I wish we hadn't as the main bathroom smelt of sewage and was unusable. Once outside I asked the owner again why the property was not ready 3.5hrs after we could have checked in. He explained he had not been sent the booking by Cottages.com. (Contradictory to what he had said on the phone and I confirmed with cottages.com later in the week that the owner had been sent the booking in April)Once we were in the property the main bathroom still smelt of sewage and we had no tea towels, washing up liquid, kitchen roll or sponges. We assumed this was not included so we went to the local big shop (which was 25 minutes away) to gather the supplies as well as cleaning supplies for the main bathroom. The following day we noticed a bin bag had been left at the door of the property. We had not been told anyone would be leaving this there but fortunately we looked inside before discarding as kitchen roll, tea towels etc had been left in this bag. Fortunately on the second day we managed to remove the smell from the main bathroom as finding another property for 10 people in the area would have been difficult, especially as we had a wheelchair user in our group.Overall the property itself was lovely, exactly the right amount of space, plenty of storage and well designed. If we had not had any of the issues we had on the first two days, this would have been 5/5 stars. You do need a car to go anywhere outside the complex as it is off a country road. However, a good base camp if planning to go in the direction of the Lake District and Blackpool during your stay. I hope the owner uses this review as an opportunity to improve his management of the properties.
